1. Introduction
Welcome to the MPM: MOOC Performance Analysis Tool ("the Service"). This service is provided by Data Visionary Solutions. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This policy outlines how we handle and process your data when you use our tool, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws.
2. Data We Process
Our service is designed to minimize data collection. We do not require you to create an account to use our tool. We process two types of data:
- Uploaded Files: You can upload a CSV or XLSX file containing MOOC performance data. This data is used solely for the purpose of generating a performance analysis report. We do not ask for or process personal information within these files.
- Visitor Logs: For security and operational purposes, we maintain a temporary log of visitor activity. This is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest to protect our service from misuse and to troubleshoot technical issues.
3. How We Use Your Data
The data from your uploaded file is processed in the following manner:
- Temporary Processing: Your file is temporarily stored on our server solely for the duration of the analysis.
- Analysis: Our backend service, powered by Python, reads the data from your file to perform calculations based on the MPM model.
- Report Generation: The analysis results are used to generate two output files: a PNG image (chart) and a PDF document (report).
- Original File Deletion: Immediately after the analysis is complete and the reports are generated, **your original uploaded file is permanently deleted from our server.** We do not keep a copy of it.
4. Visitor Log Data
When you use our service, we automatically log the following information:
- Your IP Address
- The time and date of your visit
- Your web browser's User Agent string
- The action you performed (e.g., visiting a page or uploading a file)
- The status of the action (e.g., "Success" or "Error")
This data is stored in a plain text (CSV) file on our server. It is used exclusively for monitoring server traffic, diagnosing errors, and preventing malicious activity. The log files are not shared with third parties and are accessible only to the system administrator for the purposes stated above. We do not use this data for marketing or to analyze individual user behavior beyond technical and security monitoring.
5. Data Storage and Retention
We do not operate a database for user data. Our data retention is limited to the following:
- Generated Reports: The resulting PNG chart and PDF report are stored on our server so that you can access and download them. These reports are stored with a unique, randomly generated filename that has no direct connection to you.
- Visitor Logs: Log files are periodically reviewed and deleted. They are not kept indefinitely.
- Data in Reports: The data visible in the reports (tables and charts) is derived from the data you provided. Be mindful not to include personal or sensitive information in the data you upload if you do not want it to be present in the final reports.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the data during the brief period it is on our systems. This includes using secure connections and ensuring that generated reports and log files are stored in protected directories not accessible to the public.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
As we do not store personal data or link any processed data to individuals, many GDPR rights such as the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data are not applicable in the traditional sense. The data control lies with you:
- Control: You control what data is sent to our service for processing.
- Deletion: The original data file is automatically deleted. The anonymous reports and system logs are managed by us as the data controller. If you have concerns, please contact us.
8. Cookies
Our service does not use cookies for tracking or identification purposes.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
